TEAM SPOTLIGHT
June 2024
Cathy Fox, a woman of determination, has carved a unique path in her professional life. Born in Garden City, PA, she moved to Springfield, PA at the age of 3— to this day, she still calls Springfield her home.
Cathy’s early years were shaped by her mother’s diligent work as a bookkeeper in her father’s auto mechanic store. Inspired by this familial connection to numbers and financial records, Cathy pursued Accounting and Secretary Courses at Springfield High School. Little did she know that these foundational skills would propel her into a fulfilling career.
Her first job came unexpectedly when scanning the newspaper when she stumbled upon an ad for an administrative position at a local plumbing company. Cathy dove headfirst into the world of plumbing, working for over 18 years under the mentorship of the company’s owner. She became more than a boss; she became Cathy’s guide, teaching her the intricacies of the trade.
However, life took an unexpected turn when the plumbing company dissolved. Cathy adjusted her sails, working part-time while raising her children. When Cathy was ready to transition to a full-time role, her career compass led her to George Rendell, an Administrative Accountant position that promised new opportunities. The construction industry welcomed her warmly, and she found comfort in the small office environment. Even after Rendell was acquired by Caritas Construction, Cathy chose to remain in her role under new leadership. Fortunately, at Caritas, camaraderie thrives, and Cathy affectionately refers to her colleagues as her ‘work kids.’ Her enthusiasm for the company and her career is fueled by strong working relationships and her sense of ownership over the numbers.
Her daily tasks span the accounting spectrum: managing accounts payable and receivable, overseeing payroll, handling benefits, and ensuring smooth office operations. Cathy’s organizational skills, awesome personality, and straightforward approach make her indispensable to the team. “While Cathy has only worked with us for five & a half years, it seems like a lifetime because she is a most trusted person, and our thinking is simpatico. Cathy’s dedication and willingness to do whatever needs to be done exemplifies The Way and makes her a most valued teammate. Her daily positive attitude and warm smile enhances everyone’s day.” says, president, Jody Arena.
Beyond the office walls, Cathy’s family remains her anchor, and spending time with them brings her immeasurable joy. Long Beach Island is her sanctuary—as a beach bum, she revels in the simple pleasures of sand between her toes and salt in her hair. Cooking, reading, and baking fills her leisure hours and she dreams of one day exploring the world.
